Educationally fortified, Dr. Brucken holds a B.A. in History from the College of Wooster, alongside an M.A. and Ph.D. in Diplomatic History from Ohio State University.
When asked about his favorite aspect of academia, Dr. Brucken eloquently expresses a dual appreciation: “The honor of learning history alongside students by asking questions, gathering evidence, and weighing possibilities, “said Brucken, “and reading a wide range of books and articles that challenge my existing beliefs and opinions.”
Looking forward, Dr. Brucken envisions his future with purposeful ambition. With retirement on the horizon in ten years, has aspires to continue leaving an indelible mark on the scholarly landscape. His goals include publishing another book on baseball’s mythical founding, engaging in collaborative efforts on restorative justice and domestic violence, and deriving daily inspiration from the vibrant discourse within the classroom.
Reflecting on his career thus far, Dr. Brucken highlights a profoundly impactful accomplishment: “I am most proud of testifying with lawyers and their courageous clients to win asylum in the United States for over a hundred Zimbabwean nationals.” Such endeavors speak volumes about his commitment to justice and humanitarian causes.
