Samantha Augustus has had a winding path that has led her to her current role as Administrative Assistant in the Leahy School of Cybersecurity and Advanced Computing at Norwich University.
Originally from Maine, Augustus started her first year of college at the University of Maine at Farmington in 1989. After a stint as a nanny in the Hamptons area of Long Island, New York, in 1990, she met her first husband and went on to work at Dowling College in Oakdale, NY. She had her children while living in Rocky Point, NY, before the family relocated to Vermont in 2006. Following a divorce, she remarried in 2014.
Augustus joined Norwich University in the Fall of 2018, working in the Registrar’s Office initially. She transitioned to Human Resources from late 2019 to early 2020 before returning to the Registrar’s Office role. She began her current position in May 2022.
In her day-to-day, Augustus serves as a resource for students and faculty in the computer science and cybersecurity majors. “I consider myself the surrogate mom of the students,” Augustus said. Her duties include assisting students and faculty, managing office supplies, and registering incoming freshmen.
Balancing her job and education, Augustus is currently a junior psychology major at Norwich, planning to graduate in spring 2025. Looking ahead, she hopes to pursue graduate studies and pursue a PsyD degree.
An interesting fact? Augustus is a 500-hour registered yoga teacher specializing in yoga for arthritis. She completed her certifications at Myriad Yoga Teacher Training in Brownsville, Vermont.
With her diverse background and caring approach, Augustus is a valued member of the Norwich community.
