A candlelight vigil is being held tonight at 10:00 PM on the steps of Jackman Hall for Cadet Daniel Bermudez, who tragically passed away last night.
Daniel Bermudez was a freshman in the Corps of Cadets, a criminal justice major from Connecticut, and a member of Bravo Company.
This morning, the Norwich University Residence Life Office sent a notice out to all students and faculty via email, offering resources such as grief counseling and further emotional support to all members of the campus community.
Earlier this evening, President John Broadmeadow released a statement extending condolences to Bermudez’s family, friends, and those close to him.
“We will share more information regarding services and the Echo Taps ceremony when it becomes available,” he stated.
The Guidon would like to express its deepest sympathies towards the family and friends of Cadet Bermudez and all affected by his untimely passing.
“In response to this tragedy, we are dedicating all available resources through our Counseling and Wellness Center to support our students, faculty, and staff during this difficult time,” said Broadmeadow. “The bonds that unite us at Norwich are strong, and we will continue to provide care and comfort to one another in the coming days.”
All members of the Norwich community are welcome to attend tonight’s ceremony.
