Women’s Ice Hockey: Cadets Stumble in Elmira
HORSEHEADS, N.Y. – In their first contest after the break, the Norwich University Women’s Ice Hockey team fell to New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) rival Elmira 3-2 Friday night at the Murray Athletic Center.
The Cadets started out behind the eight ball and never recovered. The Soaring Eagles held 12-7 shots on goal advantage after the first period and scored late in the frame. Norwich would draw even early in the second period courtesy of junior Aimee Headland (Nottingham, U.K.). The tie didn’t last long as Elmira would regain the lead a few minutes later. However, before the middle frame concluded Ingrid Holstad-Berg (Stavanger, Norway) would tie the game again heading into the break. Early in the third the Soaring Eagles would break the tie for good.
On deck for the Cadets is a date with William Smith Saturday afternoon at 3 PM in Geneva, N.Y.
