Abbey Houghton, a 19-year-old sophomore civilian hailing from Dover, New Hampshire, is carving her path at Norwich University. Her dedication to nursing is evident, as she dives into her studies with fervor and enthusiasm. When asked about her decision to attend Norwich, Abbey pointed out the perfect blend of location and academic excellence.
“I love where Norwich is,” Abbey remarks. “It’s a perfect location to go hiking when it’s nice out, and I don’t have to travel very far to ski in the winter! I also liked how Norwich’s nursing program is good, and I liked how I could get a good education out of it.”
Beyond her academic pursuits, Abbey finds solace and joy in extracurricular activities. She’s an active member of the Swim Team, demonstrating her commitment to both fitness and teamwork. During her free time, Abbey indulges in her passion for photography, capturing the breathtaking landscapes of Vermont. Additionally, she has taken up rock climbing, embracing the physical and mental challenges it presents.
Looking ahead, Abbey shares her aspirations for the future. “I anticipate working as a nurse for a couple of years post-graduation,” she says, “and then continuing on to medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon.”
Abbey’s philosophy on life is both inspiring and reassuring. “My go-to life statement,” she shares, “is that Deja vu is just life telling you that you are on the right path, n
o matter how hard things get. I especially think of this when nursing school gets hard, and I question my decisions; I know that I am going the right way.”
With her unwavering determination, Abbey Houghton is poised to make a significant impact in the field of healthcare, embodying resilience, passion, and a steadfast commitment to her dreams.
