To honor and celebrate the life of CDT Alyson Jaspe, the next few weeks will see several events held in her honor.
Tonight at 7:30 p.m., a candle lighting ceremony vigil will take place in front of the White Chapel. An announcement made regarding the event states that this gathering should reflect “the warmth and spirit she embodied”, and all attendees should wear fun pastel colors instead of black clothing in order to “celebrate her the way she deserves: with color, love, and community”.
Next Saturday, March 28th, there will also be a 5K Memorial Run to raise money for the Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC) Research Foundation. Check in will take place outside Ransom Hall at 9:00 a.m., and there will a $10 minimum donation required for participation. You can sign up with this form.
Lastly, an Echo Taps ceremony has already been planned and announced to be held on April 9 at 10:00 p.m., bringing together members of the Norwich community alongside Aly’s family. This observance will serve as a formal moment to honor her life and reflect on the contributions she made during her time at Norwich.
In addition, Norwich’s Association of the Regiment is offering ceremonial bracelets in honor of Cadet Jaspe. All proceeds will be donated to the Jaspe family in recognition of Alyson’s life and legacy. Contributions can be made at aornu1819.square.site/s/shop.
All members of the Norwich Community are welcome to attend Thursday night’s candlelight ceremony, the 5K memorial run next Saturday, and the Echo Taps on April 9th.
