MARSHFIELD, Mass. – For their performances on Dec. 6 against Plattsburgh State, the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) named senior Drennen Atherton (Winter Haven, Fla.) Co-Goaltender of the Week and forward Nick Cordeiro (Mississauga, On.) Rookie of the Week the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Atherton continues his strong Norwich career while starting 10 of the 11 games this season in which he sports a .939 save percentage, 1.51 goals against average, and two shutouts. His save percentage and goals against average are both in the top five in the NEHC. Atherton’s second shutout against New England College on Nov. 18 earned him NEHC Honor Roll. New England College’s Spencer Koslowski was the other netminder honored by the NEHC this week.

Dec. 6 against Plattsburgh State was the fourth appearance of the season for Cordeiro. Halfway through the second period he snuck a shot past Cardinal goaltender Eli Shiller, Cordeiro’s first of his collegiate career, which proved to be the game winning goal.

The eighth ranked Cadets ended the semester with an 8-2-1 overall record while going 5-1-1 in NEHC play. Norwich will look to continue their strong season when they host SUNY Canton on Dec. 30 as part of the Northfield Savings Bank Holiday Tournament.
