NORTHFIELD, Vt- The Norwich University Men’s Ice Hockey team earned their first home victory of the 2022-23 season with a 4-1 win over Skidmore Saturday afternoon at Kreitzberg Arena.

The Cadets were off and running early when sophomore Clark Kerner (Kansas City, Kan.) scored his New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) leading seventh of the season less than three minutes collecting a Noah Williams (Cortland, N.Y.) rebound. Later in the first freshman Johnny Johnson (Napierville, Ill.) scored a powerplay goal on a five minute man advantage giving Norwich a 2-0 lead after the first.

The Thoroughbreds got on the board early in the second on a goal by junior Thomas Finck (St. James, N.Y.). Five minutes later sophomore Paul Schmid (Linz, Austria)  collected a turnover and scored on a breakaway making the score 3-1 Cadets after the second. Schmid would tally his second of the game in the third where junior Joe Nagle (Weymouth, Mass.) would collect his second primary assist.

Up next for the Cadets is a showdown with New England College Friday November 18th. Puck drop is set for 7 PM at Kreitzberg Arena.
