NORTHFIELD, Vt.- After competing in two competitions with multiple teams the Norwich University Wrestling team hosted their first dual meet Wednesday night against Castleton  in the Battle for the Green Mountain Championship. The annual meeting between the two sides is the only match between two varsity wrestling programs in Vermont and is greatly beneficial to the local community.

The meet was dominated by Castleton from start to finish as the Spartans throttled the Cadets 47-0 which included several matches ending by fall in the first period.

“Give credit to Castleton because they are an excellent program.” Said Norwich Head Coach Alex Whitney after the meet. “We allowed them to dictate how the matches went and didn’t wrestle our game. We need to learn our lessons from today and be ready for Saturday.”

Saturday the Cadets will travel to Castleton to compete against WPI at 3 PM.
