Men’s Soccer: Thongsythavong, Jiana Headline USC All-Region Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The United Soccer Coaches (USC) announced their All-Region Team for the 2022 season Tuesday afternoon with four players from Norwich University earning spots.

Leading the pack on the first team is the unanimous Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Offensive Player of the Year, senior Joseph Thongsythavong (Salem, Mass.). Thongsythavong finished the campaign tied for fifth in Division III in goals (21), tied for first in points (52). Joining Thongsythavong on the First Team is sophomore Mamadi Jiana (Chicopee, Mass.) whose 12 goals are 46th in the country to go along with his 31 points which is 40th in the nation along with being a force in the midfield.

Named to Second Team All-Region is the GNAC’s Defensive Player of the Year in sophomore Kam Jorgenson (Titusville, Fla.). “Kam was a rock at the back, organizing our team when we didn’t have the ball and was very influential in our buildup play, Kam will be a leader for this program for years to come.” Said Head Coach Adam Pfeifer

Rounding out the honorees is senior Amerle Nemeye (Burlington, Vt.) who was named to the Third Team. Nemeye’s 14 assists is fourth in Division III and his 0.82 assists per game is third in the nation along with his 1.82 points per game being 32nd in the country for Nemeye’s third year on the All-Region team. “We are all very proud of these 4 guys, they were all fantastic throughout the year on the field.” Pfeifer added.

The USC is the world’s largest soccer coaches’ organization representing every level of the game. The All Region and All American Awards are the only awards voted on by the coaches.
